C.B.T & Personal Transformation FAQs

C.B.T (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) is a talk based therapy, where by a therapist will discuss your current feelings, past situations and more to understand the issues you may be facing. Together, you get to the core of the issue, and explore techniques and strategies to help you move forward from it.

In your first CBT session, you will generally have a conversation with your therapist so they can get to know you a little better. You will start to look at your current and past situations to try and understand why you may be feeling the way you do, and together you can discuss the next steps going forward. See this first session as an assessment for both you and your potential therapist.

It varies. Depending on your situation, the depth of the issues you are facing, how open you are to change, and how well you implement the techniques shared. Generally, you can expect to have anywhere from 5 – 15+ sessions.

It is recommended to do a weekly C.B.T session during the initial period. As progress is made, the frequency of sessions can be reduced to fortnightly until you are ready to stop therapy all together.

CBT has been shown to be most effective for psychological and emotional conditions, especially anxiety and depression, but has also been shown effective for trauma, substance abuse, anger, addiction and more.

Single sessions are just £30/hr, but more cost effective CBT packages can be found on our CBT Support Packages page.

No, you do not have to be referred to begin CBT sessions. You can refer yourself and being therapy.

All sessions are one-on-one CBT sessions over the phone. This way, you do not have to be in a particular place to take the session, but we do ask that you are in a quiet and private location for the duration of the session.

Yes, everything discussed in CBT sessions are confidential. However, in extreme circumstances and, as a duty of care, I am obligated to involve external third-party agencies in the following circumstances:

  1. I believe you are at imminent risk of hurting yourself.
  2. I believe you are at imminent risk of hurting others.

In such circumstances, this will be discussed with you first.

No, I don’t not prescribe medication. We can discuss the role of medication in your CBT journey and overall transformation process, but ultimately it is a conversation you will need to have with your GP.

CBT is a goal-focused therapy. This means that instead of potentially staying in therapy for years, the aim is to get to the core issue and beliefs, reframe them and put a strategy in place for your continual progression in as short a time as possible.
